Grouting

Grout is a particular concrete used to fill gaps. Grout is made with water, cement, and sand, and is employed in pressure grouting, connecting sections of pre-cast concrete, filling voids, and sealing joints such as those between tiles and / or wall.Material used for filling the space or gap between the base or base plate of a column, trestle, machine etc. and the top surface of it’s foundation is called grout and the process of filling grout is called grouting. The main objectives of grouting is to maintain alignment of the erected structure or equipment etc.now in infrastructure industry project like Underground structures tunnels, hydroelectric power plants, storage caverns, river bridge, chemical industry etc are always expensive to build. then as infrastructures they are directly responsible for wealth creation and development, justifying thus also their need of better and constant maintenance.Grouting works are a significant part of these important projects, mainly in Consolidation and strengthening of weak soil during tunnelling excavation, curtain grouting for concrete and earth dams,ground settlement control, waterproofing of existing structures, preventing spreading of hazardous contaminants, foundation plate formation,re-opening of old dams and tunnels etc. Epoxy grout is made from two different resins mixed with a filler, making it very waterproof and bettered suited to harsher cleaning products. Epoxy thinsets offer greater bond strength and chemical resistance than cementitious grouts.
